Find Rest In Christ Alone

56 “Blessed be the Lord, who has given rest to His people Israel, according to all that He promised. There has not failed one word of all His good promise, which He promised through His servant Moses. -1 Kings 8:56

Jesus Christ gives rest to all who believe and trust in Him. There is not a word that God has spoken that He will not fulfill. King Solomon after He had prayed over the sacrifice to dedicate the temple to God, He also blessed the people as their King. In his blessing, he reminded the people of Israel of two very important things about God, these two things are:

  • God who gives rest (peace, assurance, hope, joy, power of God)
  • God is always faithful

This morning beloved, God wants to steer our minds to meditate on these two great things that He does in our lives. In that time, King Solomon had completed building the temple of God. In the process of dedicating the temple to God, He offered a great wealth of animal sacrifice that will please God to come and abide in His temple. After this sacrifice, He prayed to God and blessed the people that God will continue to be with them. King Solomon affirmed the faith of the people in God, by reminding them of who God is, that He gives REST and HE is always FAITHFUL.

This is true for you and me this day also, Christ Jesus was offered as a sacrifice for you and for me on calvary that we will be dedicated to God. Our high priest Jesus Christ gives us this REST in Him that all is well and we ought not to be afraid in this life. As believers, we live in a world full of chaos and hardships but there is a peace we find in Christ alone. In abiding in Jesus Christ, you experience a joy that supersedes all understanding and allows you to know that it is well because you serve a faithful God. God is not a man that He should lie, He has said it and it He will do it.

Beloved, I do not know what hardships, difficulties, troubles or pains that you are experiencing today but what I know is God’s word to you that He gives you REST in Him.

Do your endeavors seem aimless?

Does your works seem to bear no fruit?

Dear one, please continue to trust in Him, He will not fail you. Christ wants to wipe away your tears and fill your heart with true REST. This is the testimony, He promised in the old testament to bring a Savior who will save man from SIN and you and I live to experience this testimony. What more to say, Christ is enough for me and I pray He is enough for you to this day.

May God help us to continue to rest in Him as He is always a faithful God.

God bless you!
