As per a common saying in the Christian world, every believer is a representative of the hands and feet of Jesus Christ. This statement serves as a reminder that as a believer in Christ, your body is considered a temple of God (1 Corinthians 3:16), and the Holy Spirit resides within us to help us fulfill God’s mission on Earth. Our mission, which involves loving God and others, is an active one that centers around serving. Our hands and feet play a crucial role in fulfilling God’s mission. Our feet take us to the places where we need to do God’s work, and our hands perform the work that we have been assigned to do in serving God and others.
As believers, we should always aim to use our hands and feet to build God’s Kingdom in all areas of life, including work, academics, family, and leisure activities.
The Hands
Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going.“
Ecclesiastes 9:10 NKJV
Our hands are never meant to be idle. Whether we are at home, at work, or leisure time, our hands are always engaged in some activity or the other. The wise King Solomon reminds us of the need to be diligent in every activity that we engage in with our hands. The time we have on this earth is fleeting, so it is important to commit ourselves fully to every assignment that God gives us to do with our hands. As faithful children of God, we must strive to fulfill our duties with all diligence.
There are three stages to every great work of God; first it is impossible, then it is difficult, then it is done.
Hudson Taylor
Taking up a good work may be challenging, as Hudson Taylor once said. However, it is through prayer and seeking God’s help that we are empowered to complete the work. We ask for the guidance and strength of the Holy Spirit to assist us throughout the process.
The Bible also notes that hands can be used in spiritual activities such as praying for others, imparting spiritual gifts, or ministering healing to others. This revelation of the hands in the Bible also tells us that our hands have a holy call.
The following Scripture verses highlight how yielded hands can be used for the divine acts of God:
Hands for Healing
When the sun was setting, all those who had any that were sick with various diseases brought them to Him; and He laid His hands on every one of them and healed them.
Luke 4:40
And it came to pass, that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and of a bloody flux: to whom Paul entered in, and prayed, and laid his hands on him, and healed him.
Acts 28:8
Hands for Praying

Acts 9:17
Hands for Commissioning for Assignment
3 Then, having fasted and prayed, and laid hands on them, they sent them away.
Acts 13:3
Praying for others to commission them for a mission was to demonstrate that as they go, whatever assignment they were given they were to put their hands to do the good work.

Mark 10:16
Hands for doing work
11 that you also aspire to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you,
1 Thessalonians 4:11
Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need.
Ephesians 4:28
The Feet
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Psalm 119:105
Psalm 119:105 shows us that king David understood God’s word directed his path in life. Prayer walks are a great opportunity to spend time with God. During these walks, we can pray for God’s presence and word to take over the places we walk in His name. Joshua 1:3 tells us as believers that wherever we step, we possess it. That means, our presence in the places we enter but experience the light of God in us. Our light should overcome the darkness and God’s glory should shine on that place.
We ought to always have an eternal mindset that everything we do contributes to God’s kingdom and has an eternal impact. When we step into places like the market, school, workplace, or neighborhood, we should know that there is a purpose attached to that place and we need to work to have God’s Kingdom reign there. Our feet lead us to fulfill assignments, and we should never take the places we are in for granted. We need to ask God daily to order our steps, as the enemy can lead us away from our purpose through distraction, fear or disobedience.
The following Scripture verses highlight how Bible instructs us in regards to our feet:
The Feet to Pursue Righteousness
Ponder the path of your feet,
Proverbs 4:26-27
And let all your ways be established. Do not turn to the right or the left;
Remove your foot from evil.
The Feet to Go Places to Share the Gospel of Christ
How beautiful upon the mountains
Isaiah 52:7
Are the feet of him who brings good news,
Who proclaims peace,
Who brings glad tidings of good things,
Who proclaims salvation,
Who says to Zion,
“Your God reigns!”
and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
Ephesians 6:15
God orders the path of our Feet
23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.
Psalm 37:23
Dear friend, when we dedicate our entire body to serving God, He can use us in amazing ways to accomplish great things on earth. Remember that your body is a holy temple, where God dwells to show His glory in the world. I hope and pray that these series on the importance of offering our bodies to God has been a blessing in your journey with Christ.
Always remember that Jesus Christ loves you deeply and sacrificed His life to save you. May you be blessed.

Thank you for being the hands and feet of Jesus. I have shared this post on my blog. You can see it at Facebook.com/youhavethemindofchrist/
