Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 8 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. 9 In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. 10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.1 John 4:7-11
“Therefore by their fruits you will know them”. Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ made this profound statement in Matthew 7:20. Jesus Christ shared this to illustrate how we can know the true prophets of God from the false ones. This same statement also help identifies true believers from false believers. To know a true believer, we look out for the fruit of the believer to confirm that he or she is born of God and knows God.
By their Love You will Know Them
1 John 4:7-11 clearly states that the fruit of the believer is LOVE. The manifestation of love in the believer’s life marks him or her as one that is born of God and also knows God. In a world which is filled so much pain, suffering and evil acts, it is the demonstration of God’s love through the believer that vanquishes all the works of the enemy.
The love a believer demonstrates is a great weapon that pulls down the strongholds of the enemy and confounds his works. Here are a few great outcomes when the faithful demonstrates the love of God in the world: The love of a believer brings light to vanquish darkness, it brings joy to take away sorrow, it brings unity and peace where there is conflict and division, it restores hope where all hope is lost and many more
A believer who loves is one born of God
The love of God is shared abroad in the heart of persons who have come to experience the saving grace of God (Romans 5:5). God’s saving grace is the ultimate manifestation of love and when a person encounters such love, they also become vessels who carry such love. When one believes in our Lord Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, God grants him or her the power to become a child of God (John 1:12). The child of God bears witness of this new identity in the world when he or she demonstrates the love of God to others as God as loves him or her.
A believer who loves is one who knows God
The more of God a person comes to experience, the more deeper God’s love is revealed to the person. All that God is and does is enveloped in love. The life of the believer is the daily experience of God’s mercies, kindness, goodness, provision, etc. With all that God is and does in the believer’s life, it is hardly for a faithful believer to soak in all of God’s love and not want to share this love with others. The love the faithful experiences in God compels him or her to share this love with others. As we are loved, we also ought to love others (1 John 4:11).
Beloved in Christ, let us always remember to love others through all that we do as God loves us. May God give us the grace to manifest God’s love in the world.
