Lord Order My Steps

Living life is like walking on a way towards a destination; on this path, we will encounter so many things such as people, experiences, obstacles … which will have a tremendous impact on where we end up. As Christians, we resolve that Jesus Christ is the path we walk in life; Christ is the way, truth, and life, and as such, whatever we do or become has to be in His way, will, and by His word. Pressing on the path of life with Jesus Christ as your way is not without challenges, as believers we strive to stay on this path so that in the end we can also proclaim like Apostle Paul that “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me but also to all who have longed for his appearing.” – 2nd Timothy 4: 7-8.

How do we faithfully walk in the Path of God?

Here is the truth, God is the one with authority over our lives, we were created by Him and for Him. It is in Jesus Christ, we live, move, and have our being, and apart from Christ, we cannot do anything. Our current culture is preaching to reject this truth, but the word of God, clearly reveals that our Lord Jesus Christ is the Creator and Savior of all humanity, and His way and will is the absolute truth and path to eternal life for every person on earth. Our lives cannot and should not be independent of God, but our lives must always be in alignment with God by abiding in His word, will, and way. To be in God’s will and way, we have to pray and humbly ask God to order our steps in His word.

When God orders our steps, there are three primary outcomes. They are: (1) God orders our steps to live a life of holiness. (2) God orders our steps to fulfill the assignments, tasks, or purposes, He has ordained for our lives, (3) God orders our steps to make life-altering decisions that we encounter in our lives. Although I have stated these three contexts separately, they all ultimately achieve the same goal, that is to bring glory and honor to Him in our lives.

God orders our steps to live a life of holiness

In Psalm 119: 133, “Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.” David bears witness to how God can guide us in life to resist temptations that can take captive of our lives. In this world, without the power and grace of the Holy Spirit, we will find ourselves indulging in all kinds of evil passions and pleasures that will lead us astray from God. God orders our path to seek the things of the Holy Spirit, which strengthens u to resist temptations and delivers us from evil. God sets in our way great resources such as Bible study groups, Christian leaders, Christian activities, and events to help to keep us connected to the body of Christ by holding us accountable so that we do not give in to the deceptions of the enemy. Today if God is speaking to you to resist that thing which is luring you to satisfy evil pleasures and desires of the flesh, do not harden your heart, submit to God, and flee from the sin.

God orders our steps to fulfill the assignments, tasks or purposes, He has ordained for our lives

Each person created by God has a purpose, assignment, or task to fulfill. As long as you have committed yourself to God, you have also availed yourself to be God’s vessel for God’s Kingdom. Often times, we do not know from the get-go what to do, but when we ask God, He is faithful to guide us and show us what His calling is for our lives. The experience of fulfilling your ordained purpose in life can be so subtle that you, at times, you miss that you are doing it. God, in His great grace and wisdom, connects all our experiences to serve a purpose that ultimately reveals the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. The key here is for us to stay faithful and obedient in whatever God places in our path; by so doing, God’s plan for our lives comes to purpose.

God orders our steps to make life altering/big decisions that we encounter in our lives.

Certain weighty decisions bring our life to a standstill, which also provides an excellent opportunity for the glory and power of God manifest in our lives. God is ever ready to step in to guide our hearts and mind also, more importantly, be with us in such moments. Everyone’s life is different, and life-altering/ big decisions could mean many different things for different people. Beloved in Christ pray and humbly seek the face of the Lord when you encounter such moments in life and allow God to lead you by His peace that surpasses all understanding in Christ Jesus, our Lord, and Savior.

Seeking God to order our steps reveals our humble hearts that accept the Lordship of God in our lives. We forsake our own will and path and ask God to have His way in us. Please, Beloved, note this: our ways are distorted with fleshly passions and desires, which lead to death and bondage, but God’s way leads to life, peace, righteous and joy in the Holy Spirit. The world is full of darkness, it is God’s word which serves as a lamp unto our feet and light upon the path that guides us to live to bring God’s glory. May God richly bless you as you continue to seek His way and allow Him to order your steps in life. As always, remember that Jesus Christ loves you dearly for He died on the cross so that you and I may obtain eternal life. Stay blessed.
