A Relationship with God

Have you ever wondered life without the ability to establish relationships? I cannot even come close to imagining such a life. My life has truly been blessed due to relationships. This includes all types of relationships from family related relationships, cordial and close relationships. Most people will bear witness that their lives have in one way or the other been impacted by the relationships they have formed in their life’s journey.

Just as everything in life could be good or bad so is relationships. It is better to have no relationship than to have a bad relationship. Just as a good relationship could be an immense blessing, a bad relationship could impact one’s life very negatively. Having a bad relationship with someone could result in the person perceiving you as an enemy. All that transpires between enemies is hurtful and painful interactions and I am sure none of us want that.

Most Cherished Relationship of All

Among all the relationships I have in my life one that I dearly cherish and adore among all the relationships is my relationship with our Lord Jesus. In the Christian life, we tend to emphasize having  and building a relationship with God but we often miss the essence of this relationship.

During my childhood, this was quite a difficult task or idea to grasp. I always wondered, how possible is it to have a relationship with someone who is so amazing, great and powerful. I mean I was being to ask to have a relationship with God Almighty. But now as a more matured Christian I have found this to be one of the greatest privileges a person could ever have in a lifetime.

A relationship with God allows one to experience the love of God which becomes the source of love for all relationships in a person’s life.

“God in His infinite wisdom and gracious love saw the struggle and torment of humanity and sent our Lord Jesus Christ to come to remove the void that separated us from a union with God. “

Beloved in Christ, the word of God tells us that God wants and seeks to have a relationship with us.  In the beginning when God created humanity a perfect relationship was established until that relationship was stained with sin. From then on, humanity has struggled to maintain a relationship with God. Our evil fleshly desires and works of the enemy constantly opposes us to be united with God in a perfect relationship. God in His infinite wisdom and gracious love saw the struggle and torment of humanity and sent our Lord  and Savior Jesus Christ to come to remove the void that separated us from a union with God. In Isaiah 1:18 we hear the voice of our gracious God through the Prophet Isaiah  extending a call to come and be restored to have a relationship with Him.

“Come now, and let us reason together,”
Says the Lord,
“Though your sins are like scarlet,
They shall be as white as snow;
Though they are red like crimson,
They shall be as wool. – Isaiah 1:18 NKJV

“You are cherished and dearly loved by God and God wants to have a relationship with you that will transform your life and allow you to experience life as God ordained for you.”

In the new Testament, we encounter the accounts of a broken relationship between God and humanity restored through Jesus Christ. Although this is so, not many have embraced what has been gained for them. Beloved please hear this, Jesus Christ came on earth to die for you, yes you! God came to die that sin and death would not keep you away from Him. You are cherished and dearly loved by God and God wants to have a relationship with you that will transform your life and allow you to experience life as God ordained for you.

After Paul the Apostle encountered Jesus Christ, his life was never the same, the things he counted gain became nothing to him, Christ was more than enough for him (Philippians 3:7- 10).

There is a tremendous blessing in having a relationship with God not only will you know your God who is also your Father but you will experience the life of Christ being manifested through you. A relationship with God will truly help you become Christlike, the evil fleshly desires and sin will lose their power over you, the Spirit of God will be fully present in your life leading and guiding you all the days of your life. Just as every relationship, you have to work on it, pursue God daily through prayer, study God’s word, actively do good and live your life for the manifestation of God’s glory.

Dear one, as Paul said to the church of Colosae,  “…you who were once far away from God. You were his enemies, separated from him by your evil thoughts and actions. 22 Yet now he has reconciled you to himself through the death of Christ in his physical body. As a result, he has brought you into his own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault.23 But you must continue to believe this truth and stand firmly in it. Don’t drift away from the assurance you received when you heard the Good News. The Good News has been preached all over the world, and I, Paul, have been appointed as God’s servant to proclaim it. Colossians 1:21-23.

A relationship with God is an honor and privilege, as we have been called into it. I pray the Holy Spirit will help us to embrace this relationship that will transform us and be a great blessing in our lives. Beloved, always remember that Jesus Christ dearly loves you because He gave His life for you <3.
