The Newness of life

walking-in-newness-of-life

Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so, we also should walk in newness of life. – Romans 6:4

People are often filled with joy and excitement over new things. I love new things, meeting new people, starting a new endeavor and so on. This weekend I was blessed to see a new baby, she is so beautiful, charming and  super cute, I was very happy and had a wonderful with the baby.

In the season of Easter, we celebrate the newness of life in Christ Jesus. The death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ bring us into the everlasting newness of life. In our devotion today, we will meditate and soak in God’s word  concerning the newness of life that we receive in Christ Jesus.

In Paul’s letter to the Romans, he uses the entire chapter of Romans 6 to expound on this concept of  new life in Jesus Christ. Paul explains in this letter that when one accepts Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, they are  delivered from the enslavement of sin and bondage into a new life of holiness in God. Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection delivers us from sin (sin no longer rules over us) and we are given new identity as God’s children (called to a new life in Christ Jesus).

In the new life,

Sin no longer rules over us

People of God,  in Jesus Christ, we become no longer slaves to our flesh and the evil pleasures  of sin that leads us into bondage and captivity. Sin no longer rules over us because Jesus Christ overcame the power of sin on the cross of Calvary. The experience of being delivered from the bondage of sin is truly amazing. When a person sincerely gives his or her life to the Lord Jesus Christ, the power of sin is broken over his or her life.  Our old self is buried in the death of Christ on Calvary forever. Hallelujah!

We live in the newness of life in Christ Jesus

Brethren, we are set free from sin into a new life in Christ. In Romans 6:10 states  For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God.” This new life is a life lived for God. As believers, we are to live our lives now as ones who belong wholly to God. We are called now to a new life where we  become slaves to righteousness and holiness. Let us honor God with our lives, God gave Himself to us and so let us live all the days of our lives for Him.

This new life in Christ is filled with an eternal joy and excitement. I do not deny the challenges and difficulties we will encounter but there is always a joy to be found in a life lived for God. The new life in Christ never gets old, we always being made anew in each every day. The Spirit of God sanctifies and leads us from grace to grace.

Always remember that Jesus Christ dearly loves you ❤

Be blessed 🙂
