Indeed, the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing until it divides soul from spirit, joints from marrow; it is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. – Hebrews 4:12 (NRSV)

Another name I give to the word of God is the word of life. Basically, that is what the word of God is for me. The word of God is the word that informs how I should live.

Let us just take a closer look at what the Book of Hebrews says about the Word of God

It is Living & Active

The word of God is not like any information we can read or hear from any outlet. The word of God has been preserved for so many years by the grace and power of God that we will have it to live our lives in Christ. Information becomes stale, old, revised, basically, I mean information loses it form one way or the other. This is not so for the word of God, it is active, it is alive, it does not need any update or any revision. It is the word of God, it works all the time. The word of God concerning healing, provision, grace, love, peace, all things that one could think is and will always be. Jesus said to the disciples, that all things will pass away but my word will remain for eternity. Beloved put your hope and trust in the word that will not be moved but will remain for all eternity.

It is Sharper than any two-edged sword

The word of God is sharp, thus it cuts and cuts very well. This metaphor for the word of God makes me think of the chastening grace of God. The word of God also the word of life helps to prune the things that are not of God in our life. So all I am saying the word of God will not always make you feel good, warm and fuzzy, sometimes it will point out the things that you need to stop, you need to get rid off, it will bring you in the alignment of God will. God’s word is sharp and is always on point! 🙂

Pierces until it divides ( soul from spirit, joints from marrow)

God’s word makes it all very clear. It makes a clear distinction between what is right and wrong. You do not get confused or mixed up when it comes to the word. It bears the truth and makes it plain.

Judges the thoughts and intentions of the heart

What are you contemplating, the word of God is your filter for all thoughts and intentions. Jesus Christ once told his disciples that it is not what goes into a person that defiles the person but rather it is what comes out of them. Who you really are will be determined by what comes out you. The flesh is prone to evil, wicked and lustful ways but it is the word of God that can help us overcome the ways of the flesh and live out the will of God. Commit your intentions and thoughts into the word of God, and let the word of God refine and set your heart right so that all that will come out will manifest that you are a child of God.

Yes! the word of God is great, it is super amazing, please Beloved do not miss it. Let us continue to soak in God’s Word and let be the guide and guard of our lives.
