We have been given all things…

I remember one day, my mother got both sad and frustrated at my youngest sister because she stayed hungry whilst the food was readily prepared and available for her in the fridge. My mother is big on cooking, she loves to cook, so on her days off, the house turns into a cooking galore. My mother will cook more than what we need for the week and beyond. She will neatly pack all the food into the refrigerator for anyone who will be hungry to get the food. It was quite unfortunate that my youngest on that day, stayed hungry while she could have eaten the available food in the refrigerator. The question my mum could not wrap her mind around was, “why did you stay hungry when food was available for you.

In today’s meditation, we find Apostle Peter drawing our minds to this same grace of provision that has been made available for all of us in Jesus Christ. Our Bible verse is from the 2nd letter of Peter to the churches in Asia Minor in AD 64 (early church era). Peter’s emphasis in this letter was to stir the minds of the people to the abundant provision that is readily available in our salvation through Christ Jesus.

Today’s verse:

as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, – 2 Peter 1:3

When one believes in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, the word of God confirms that the person receives eternal life (abundant life) in Christ. The life of such a person is transformed from a sinner to a saint, God has made this person a new creation ( how amazing is that!). Yes, we become awesome beings in Christ! Our lives now are to be devoted to God, to live in this new life for the glory of God because He is our creator, our Lord, and Savior. In this new life, God does not leave us alone to fend for ourselves, the verse today tells us that in this new life God has already given ALL THINGS THAT PERTAIN TO LIFE AND GODLINESS.

We have all things that pertain to Life

Life in Christ is living a life that bears the fruits of the Spirit of God. It is living as Christ lives. It is a life of obedience, devotion, and trust in God. In this life, we have authority and power over all that opposes the Kingdom of God. This life is the life of victory, life of grace, a life of compassionate love, the life of truth and amazing fellowship with the Holy Spirit filled with joy, peace, and righteousness. This life is lived in total obedience to God. Today’s verse for us is to remind us that this life is already given to us in our salvation that is Christ Jesus.

John 1:4 – In Him was life, and the life was the light of men

We have all things that pertain to godliness

When one becomes a believer there is a responsibility to fulfill that is to be totally devoted to God. Believers ought to be on fire, our hearts and minds are to be consumed by our love for God. In our salvation, God provides the grace and power to live in this total devotion to Him. Godliness is when our character and conduct demonstrates our fear of God, love of God and passion for God. As believers, we have been given all that we need to be able to be totally wrapped up in God and this is in the knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Today, my dear brothers and sisters, I pray that if you have not already accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior that you do. This world and its lusts are passing away. Jesus Christ is the truth, the way, and life. God gives to us through His divine power the grace to live in Christ and grace to be godly at all times. Being a Christian is hard without God but with His divine power, all things are well in Him.

Do not stay hungry when all you need is available in Jesus Christ.

It is all in Jesus Christ, seek Him today to obtain all things that pertain to life and godliness. Stay blessed.
