For she said, “If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.”- Mark 5-28
Hallelujah, we serve a good Father, who cares about all that concerns us and He desires to see us fulfilled and joyful in Him always. In today’s devotion, we encounter Jesus Christ in the account of St. Marks in chapter 5 of our Lord Jesus Christ the miracle worker.
In the context of the Mark 5, our Lord Jesus Christ heals two people and raise one dead person (Amazing right, we serve a miracle working God!). Jesus Christ heals the second person on His way to raise the dead person, which is where I will like for us dwell on for this devotion.
The Second Person Jesus Christ heals in Mark 5
Jesus Christ was called by Jairus to come to his house to heal his sick daughter who later on died and was raised from the dead. I believe Jairus knew Christ will be able to heal his daughter based on the news that had spread about Christ’s miracles. On the way to Jairus house, a crowd followed Him. All these people followed Jesus Christ for several reasons, some probably to be eye witnesses of the miracles, others to see Jesus Christ but among this people, was a woman who was suffering from the issue of blood for twelve years. As this woman saw Jesus Christ walking by, she said to herself “If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.”
This phrase the woman made resulted in her healing as she acted on it and received the expected end result. This story of the healing the woman teaches believers many lessons in how to live as children of God :
- Seek God always in faith – This woman said to herself that she will be well if she touched Christ and to God be the Glory, it did happen. Many of us approach God without merely as a routine, as a mandatory activity or just to be a spectator in this, we are no different from the crowd who touched Him but nothing changed in their lives. Dear one, do not allow your morning devotions, prayer meetings, church attendance be in vain, always go with an expectant heart to have an experience with Christ and it will be done as He is a faithful God. It is the desire of the Lord to pour out His blessings on our lives. Ask your good Father and He will grant the desires of your heart( Psalm 37:4)
- Trust in the power of Jesus Christ– This woman was suffering this issue for 12 years till that time but had not lost faith that healing could come through Christ. She could have easily settled that Jesus Christ, was just like one of the physicians but no, she believed that Jesus Christ was more than able to do that others could not do. She put her trust in the Lord as the healer and the faithful God healed her on that day. It was not in the act of touching Jesus Christ that brought her healing but it was in her faith in the healing power of Christ – “And He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction.”” Mark 5:34
Beloved, I pray that this morning you are blessed by the faith of this woman, that you also will rise up to hold unto Christ. The hope of all humanity is in Jesus Christ, come to Jesus Christ today believing and trusting in Him as the truth, the way and the life and He will manifest Himself to you.
May God continue to bless you and keep you.
Stay blessed 🙂
