From the Head to the Heart

The world is constantly changing due to the rapid new discoveries made in every day. People are studying, exploring to discover the wide range of information to gain deeper levels of understanding. Certain information when discovered liberates one from deception, as truth is unveiled. I have come to find that especially this generation has a deep thirst for seeking and searching for knowledge to know the truth, to be empowered, liberated or even just to be well educated in order improve one’s way of living.

Unfortunately, when most of this knowledge is attained, for the most part, it becomes just information discovered not information that informs new actions. In other words, the information stays in the brain, books or the internet and very few people take on the task to put the knowledge into action for better outcomes. These are just a few reasons why I think new discoveries are not put into action are fear, lack of resources and just mere lackadaisical attitudes. What then is the essence of the new discoveries if it will not be put into action.

In studying, listening and meditating on the word of God, we also gain deeper levels of understanding about our faith in God and how we ought to live as children of God. In today’s devotion,  how can we also as believers in God word use the revelation we acquire from the word of God move from our “heads” to our “hearts” where it becomes word put to action.

The revelation we rreceivewhen we hear the word of God is not mere information but it is God’s word which carries power to bring great transformation and blessings into the lives of humanity. God’s word is alive and powerful so when revealed to us must be revered and taken seriously that the word may fulfill as God has ordained His word to do. We have the Holy Spirit of God with us to make the Word of God possible to be put into action in our lives.

In the scripture, James the brother of Jesus brings the people of God’s attention to the importance of putting God’s word into action. And today, it is brought to our attention too in James 1:22

But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves – James 1:22

The Scripture verse reminds us that it is extremely important that we become doers of the word of God’s word and not mere listeners. For when we just listen and fail to apply it, we are doing harm to ourselves. In Psalm 119, David reminds as that the word of God is a lamp unto our feet and a light on our path  so when we fail to turn the lamp on, how will we be able to walk or press on in our journey in our Christian walk. Without the light, we walk in darkness and in darkness we fall and stumble. Beloved I believe we do not want stay in darkness when we readily have the lamp in our hands to bring light to us.

Also Paul says to the church in Philipi in Philipains 1:27:

Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in the one Spirit,[a] striving together as one for the faith of the gospel

The hearing of the gospel must be evident in our conduct as this will also honor Jesus Christ in our lives. The living out the word of God is not easy but it is easy when we submit to the Holy Spirit. Beloved in Christ, I found that many are coming to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ that we also press on to make this saving knowledge evident in our lives to experience the power of God’s word in our lives.

There is power in the word of God, the power is manifested when the word of God moves from our “heads to our heart”. The promises of God are able to sustain us in the dark times of our lives when they in our hearts and not just information in our heads. Our heart is the fertile grounds to birth the power of God’s word in our lives.

Beloved I pray that we will heed to the words written by James and Paul to become action takers of the word of God after we have discovered it. Let us press on each day standing with one another in one Spirit and strive together for the gospel of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

May God bless and keep you. Always know that Jesus Christ loves you dearly for He died that you may live. ❤

He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. – Isaiah 40:29
