The One who has commanded you…

When someone chooses you to do something, that is because they have found you trustworthy of fulfilling the assigned task. Also, it could mean that they believe that you have the potential or hopes that you will find the ways and means to be able to accomplish the task at hand. As the chosen one, your faith to begin the assignment could be drawn from acknowledging that the one that has chosen you has made a wise and reasonable choice by picking you. In addition, you can also look to this appointer to help if need be in the process of completing the task.

In today’s devotion, the word of God is from the book of Joshua, a word from God to Joshua the successor of Moses. Moses had passed away and now Joshua was in charge of leading the people of Israel. Joshua similar to Moses doubted himself that he was capable of obeying God’s call.  In the Bible verse, God was directly speaking to Joshua and reminding him of the ONE who has called him to this assignment.

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” –Joshua 1:9 N(NKJV)

Beloved, today, I will like to highlight three key things about the nature of the ONE who has called us. God is always with us, always faithful and is our ever provider.

God is always with us

Joshua was a faithful servant to Moses. Soon after Moses died, God speaks to Joshua to take on the work that Moses was doing. As an Assistant, Joshua had seen to some extent the height and depth of the role of leading God’s people. Joshua knew that was not an easy task to take on. The people on the outside will see it very differently but to Joshua, he sincerely knew that this was an enormous task and so when God had finished commanding him to take on the mantle of his master, He says to Joshua “…as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you.”  In this, God was telling Joshua, that you are not going to do this alone. In the eyes of men, it may have seemed that all the effort that Moses put in the role was coming from himself, but God reveals this truth to Joshua that I will be with you always through this journey as I was with Moses. Beloved, I do not know what or where God has placed or called you to do or go. His word promises us that He will never leave us (Hebrews 13:5). We ought not to fret or worry about being alone to do anything, as God has called you to the work, He will be with you to do it with you.

God is always faithful

In assigning the role of leadership to Joshua, God promised Joshua what the outcome will be if Joshua obeys Him.

Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses. From the wilderness and this Lebanon as far as the great river, the River Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and to the Great Sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your territory. No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life… – Joshua 1:3-5a

God is faithful and with this everything that He promises, He fulfills. Sometimes we expect the outcome of the call to come before the obedience. Joshua’s obedience was necessary to obtain the promise of God.  Beloved if you are in alignment in obeying God’s word for your life and it does not look like the outcome is a possibility in your eyes, then I will recommend that you look through the eyes of God. God NEVER fails, it is not possible for Him to fail. In all things, God wins. Beloved press on in your calling as God said to Joshua, ” Be Strong and Courageous!”

God is our Ever-Provider

God made the world all that exists in it. There is no need beyond God’s provision, I am a living testimony. When God calls you to do something, He provides all that you need to be able to fulfill the call. I have heard testimonies of Doctors who were impressed with the desire to serve God in the field of medicine at the lowest time of their life. No financial help, no support basically this desire almost seem aimless but God who had called orchestrated their lives to lead up to becoming who He has called them to be because they set in their heart to obey Him. Beloved, I know it is no easy thing to just say yes when everything around you says this is impossible. But today remember who has called you is Jehovah Jireh (Our Ever- Provider).

Have I (God who is always with you, ever faithful, ever provider) not commanded you? Why then do we doubt, Beloved, give no place to doubt and meditate on the ONE who has commanded you. God makes no mistake, He has chosen you for a very good reason, trust Him and in due time His promise will come to pass.

Stay blessed and God dearly loves you.
