Who is Jesus Christ?

Who is Jesus Christ? While this question cannot be fully answered in a single post, my aim is to provide a glimpse of what the Scriptures reveal about Him—the Great I AM.

In the first three (3) chapters of the book of Revelation, we find a vivid depiction of Jesus Christ. These chapters illuminate His physical appearance, the immense power He wields, and the divine purpose He fulfills. This profound revelation of Jesus Christ empowers believers to draw closer to God, strengthens our faith, and enriches our understanding of our Lord.

PHYSICAL APPEARANCE OF JESUS CHRIST

John the Apostle was one of the twelve disciples of Jesus Christ, and he had a vivid recollection of Jesus’s physical appearance. This familiarity allowed him to identify Jesus when he saw Him again, despite the fact that Jesus looked different from how he appeared during His time on earth. In Revelation 1:13-16 and Revelation 2:18, we find descriptions of this transformed appearance, revealing a glorious image that can be difficult to fully comprehend. This depiction conveys a powerful combination of both awe and reverence for God. I understand how comforting it can be to realize that our God is great and possesses such magnificent power, even in His appearance. In times when we feel fear or intimidation from the things that surround us, it is reassuring to remember that we do not have to let those appearances control our emotions or outlook, for our God is the Great I AM.

PURPOSE OF JESUS CHRIST

Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the living Word of God, came to earth to live the holy and righteous life we all struggle to achieve and to die the death we deserved. Through Him, we have the incredible gift of salvation and are accepted as the righteousness of God. Jesus stepped into our world to liberate us from our sins, guilt, and shame through His death and resurrection. For everyone who believes and receives Him as their Lord and Savior, He graciously transforms us into royal priests, empowering us to offer our lives as living sacrifices to God.

In Revelation 1:20, we find a beautiful image: the seven stars represent the angels, the dedicated shepherds of our churches, while the seven golden lampstands symbolize the churches. Jesus Christ is not just the head of the church; He is also the caring guardian of the ministers of the Gospel who lead us. He walks among the churches, lovingly observing and supporting them to ensure their tireless commitment to fulfilling God’s word on earth. In Christ, we discover the fullness of God’s presence, which He shares generously to nurture and sustain the church through its mission.

POWER OF JESUS CHRIST

Jesus Christ embodies an all-powerful, all-knowing, and ever-present God. In these verses, He is revealed as the Eternal One—immortal and the Ruler of all things. As the Word of God, He possesses all power, and there is truly no one else like Him. In times of uncertainty or struggle, this knowledge can be deeply reassuring, reminding us of the strength we have in our faith. Jesus, as the Almighty God, offers us stability and reliability, allowing us to lean on Him through every season and situation that life may bring our way. Beloved in Christ, we are not alone; the Alpha and Omega, the Holy and True One, the One who is, who was, and who is to come—the One who opens doors that no one can shut—is always there for us as His children. Be blessed.
