Every Deed is a Seed

Every action we take in our daily lives is like planting a seed. Each action has a consequence that awaits us, just like a seed that will yield a harvest in due season. Many of us can attest to this truth, as the outcomes we experience are often a result of an action that took place some time ago. It’s like a seed that was sown either by us or others in our lives that yielded a harvest.

The wise words of king Solomon in Ecclesiastes 3:2, points out that whatever is planted in due time will be harvested.

A time to plant and a time to harvest – Ecclesiastes 3:2b

As believers, we should always keep this profound truth in our minds and hearts. We should always be conscious of our actions and their potential impact, whether it be in our own lives, the lives of others, or different settings and situations. Our actions are like seeds that we are planting, and we should be mindful of what we are sowing.

Daily Reflection on Seeds Planted

Seeds are naturally designed to take root where they land and from there, they grow to bear fruit in their season. At the end of each day, it’s important to reflect on the seeds we have planted throughout the day. If we realize that we may have sown bad seeds, whether in the words we spoke or certain things we did, we must seek God’s forgiveness. We need to ask that He nullify all these bad seeds so that they may not yield a bad harvest in the future. Additionally, we must take physical action to apologize to people we may have hurt with our actions. We should mend as much as possible to restore what we might have distorted or broken with our negative actions. As led by the Holy Spirit with God’s help, we can redeem the situation, and the negative seeds will not take root. Even if they have, they will not yield as God will intervene to redeem the future.

Seeds Sown in the Family

As a parent, it’s important to reflect on the daily impact you have on your children’s lives. Are you sowing seeds of God’s word in their hearts and minds? Do you take the time to pray for them and build them up to become confident, God-fearing individuals? Everything you do with your kids – from the conversations you have to the guidance you provide – has an impact on their future. Similarly, as a spouse, it’s essential to sow good seeds in the life of your partner. Your words and actions should be Christlike, infused with God’s grace and love, to help your partner flourish as a son or daughter of God.

Seeds sown in our Career fields and community

The seeds we plant in our workplaces are demonstrated through our work ethic and how we treat others in the work environment. When we commit ourselves to reflecting Christ in our work and showing love for others in our workplace, we sow seeds of God’s love and His light. This creates a grace-filled environment for God’s reign in our workplaces and extends to our communities and other places we go to. The point is that our actions have a tremendous impact, and we should be intentional and vigilant about them to ensure they result in outcomes that glorify God.

And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.

Galatians 6:9 NKJV

Beloved in Christ, it is important that you make every action count towards shaping a better tomorrow. Take time to grow spiritually by studying God’s word, praying, and fasting. Follow the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ, and do good deeds. Show kindness, generosity, and love towards others always, and be forgiving, patient, and gentle with everyone. Build yourself up by learning and educating yourself so that you can be a blessing to others. Finally, take care of your body through proper nutrition and exercise to steward the temple that God has given you. It is essential to understand that it is the Lord who gives us the great harvest of goodness. Therefore, focus on planting and watering seeds of God’s love, grace, truth, and light, and trust that our faithful God will provide an abundance in the harvest.

”I planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow.“

1 Corinthians 3:6 NLT
