Every gift that you receive is a result of someone giving up something in order to give you that gift. During the celebration of Christmas, we rejoice in all the joy, happiness, peace, and love that come with receiving the greatest gift of all from our God. However, as we celebrate the joy, hope, and peace of receiving our Savior to the earth, we should also remember that God coming to earth to live and die for our sins is the greatest sacrifice of all.
God revealed through the Prophet Isaiah in the book of Isaiah 6:9 that God will give to us His very Son who will be to us, all that we ever need and more, a friend, a Savior, Lord, Father, King, and more.
For unto us a Child is born,
Isaiah 6:9 KJV
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
In Luke 2:11, the angels of the Lord announce to the Shepherds the fulfillment of this prophecy. Today, we all bear witness of this amazing gift that the earth received. Because Christ came to the earth, we now all can attain salvation.
”The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David!“
Luke 2:11 NLT
It’s truly remarkable to think about how Jesus Christ, who was fully divine and in perfect harmony with God, chose to take on our humanity and all the struggles that come with it. He willingly subjected himself to the pains and miseries of our sin-sick world in order to save us. It’s an act of selflessness and love that is difficult to comprehend, but one that we can all be grateful for.
It’s important to remember the true meaning of Christmas and not take the celebration lightly. We should cherish this moment and reflect on what it cost God to bring salvation to the world.
Our ultimate gratitude in this season should be to God for sending our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to us. Knowing this needs to help us stay grounded in our faith as we know the depth of sacrifice it took God to come to save us. As we celebrate, let us be grateful but even more also hold steadfastly to the gift of salvation we have received from our Lord Jesus Christ.
I would like to take this opportunity to extend an invitation to anyone who may be reading this and does not know the Lord Jesus Christ as the Lord and Savior of their life. As humans, we all have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory, but the good news is that Christ came to earth to die for us. Through faith in Him, we can be saved from our sins and have eternal life.
If you believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that He died for your sins, I invite you to say this prayer with me:
“Lord Jesus, I confess that I am a sinner and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe that you died on the cross for my sins and rose again from the dead. I accept you as my Lord and Savior and surrender my life to you. Thank you for saving me and giving me eternal life. Amen.”
Salvation Prayer
Remember that this is just the beginning of a beautiful journey with Christ. I encourage you to find a Christ-Centered and Bible-Believing church and connect with other believers who can help you grow in your faith in God.
Beloved, Merry Christmas to you all and always remember that you are dearly loved by Jesus Christ.
