God glorifies Himself in whatever is entrusted to Him

From the onset of Moses’ birth, his mother knew he was special. For that reason, Moses’s mother devised a plan which helped to preserve Moses’s life when all baby boys were being killed at birth. The time came to reveal why Moses was a special person; God had ordained Moses to be a deliverer of His people who were kept in bondage at Egypt. When God called Moses to this enormous task to bring His people out of the slavery in Egypt to the promised land, Moses struggled to accept this task but eventually gives in and do as the Lord has commanded.

In the event of Moses’s struggle, he asks God several questions in an attempt to find a way to prove why he was unfit to serve in this assignment. But God is all-knowing showed Moses that it was not up to his inadequacies and deficiencies, but it was up to the great power and might of God that will operate through an obedient servant. Exodus 4:2 is one of the most exceptional examples of how God proved his power and greatness to humanity. As Moses was struggling to accept God’s call on his life, he asks God what if the people ( Israelites in bondage) doubt me “”But suppose they will not believe me or listen to my voice; suppose they say, ‘The Lord has not appeared to you.” God responds with this question: “Moses, What is that in your hand?”

“What is your hand” as I pondered on this question, it seems very synonymous with the question God is asking us today, “What do you have? life, talents,capabilities, abilities, assets, etc?” God wanted to partner with Moses to fulfill His purpose and so he asked, him to offer whatever that he may have in his hand to Him (God). Moses answered and said, “a staff” and God asks him to throw it down to the ground. In throwing the staff or rod down was symbolic of Moses surrendering all that he had in his hand to God. And upon the staff hitting the ground it turned into a snake. ( a great sign that bewildered Moses)

The rod in Moses in hand had no power in itself but when it was subjected to the God’s lordship, it was able to be used to do great signs and wonders to bring glory to God. Let’s just cast our minds back to all the things we have been able to do throughout our lives. There may be certain things you set out to do by first doubting yourself before you took the first step to accomplish whatever it was. I think it is a prevalent human emotion to question oneself when we encounter a great task, responsibility, or project. As a believer, the sense of doubt of self should lead us to our knees where we can seek God’s grace to enable us to accomplish the tasks/ assignments/purposes He has for us. Beloved without God’s grace, we will struggle, and our best efforts will never suffice. We ought to always know that when we yield our lives to God, He will use us for His purposes to bring glory to Himself and give us eternal joy. In God using us, He utilizes the very abilities or disabilities, gifts, experiences, passions, and all that we are and have. In times, when challenges arise, Beloved in Christ, don’t fret due to what you do not have or have rather entrust yourself and all you have to God and watch Him birth greatness in and through you.
