The Power of Holiness

The command to be holy is often viewed by most people as one that could only be obeyed by a selected few. This view of holiness has also to do with how we understand the command to be holy. To live a holy life to most people sounds like a fun-free life or a boring life so to speak, but today I pray that your mind and heart will be inspired with the truth in this command of God. Living holy is fun, exciting and super adventurous because it is living your life for Jesus!

In today’s devotion, I am led to share with you about some of the things that happen when we obey this commandment. All of God’s commandments are for a good reason because God is good. This reason is one that is greater than our imagination and one that glorifies God because it allows all things to work out for our good. When God is glorified we receive joy and this joy is beyond any pleasure one could ever imagine. Anyway, let’s get to today’s word, the power of HOLINESS.

‘Thus you are to be holy to Me, for I the LORD am holy; and I have set you apart from the peoples to be Mine. Leviticus 20:26

As a child of God, you have been saved by God from sin to remain with God in His righteousness. Your life now belongs to God, He is your Father and you are His child. As a child of God, you have the divine privilege and access to God’s blessings. One of the ways we tap into the blessings of God is in obeying the command to be holy. Through holiness one is able to manifest the power of God in ways that you do not even notice or could imagine. It is a great privilege as believers to be asked by God to be holy as He is. The following are just a few pointers of how I see the power of holiness manifested when we obey this command.

In Holiness we see God

14 Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord – Hebrews 12:14.

To live in holiness is to be totally devoted and committed to God. In this way, we maintain intimacy with God. Your life becomes as Christ narrates with the analogy of the vine and the branches. You remain in Christ and He remains in you, in this, you are able to experience God in a tangible way and truly know God.

In Holiness we share in His nature

Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering. – Colosians 3:12

To be holy is to emulate the very nature of God. God is holy! Our character of holiness manifest who God is, that is His mercies, love, goodness, kindness and on and on…  We live in a world filled with chaos, sufferings and all manner of issues. Our holiness makes us the light that overcomes the darkness in the world. Many who are being drowned in this sea of chaos and sufferings are rescued by our manifestation of holiness. Our kindness, love, and showing of meekness and humility bring joy, liberation, and peace to others.

In Holiness we are shielded from sinful acts

12 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. – Romans 12:1

The command to be holy is be in total submission to God. A person that pursues Holiness abstains from all manner of sin and evil, this person is one that keeps their way pure. When one pursues holiness, sin is far from them. Beloved the key to resisting temptations is to always set our minds on offering our lives unto God as living sacrifices.

In Holiness we rescue others

32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. John 12:32

Dear one, our obedience to holy living is exalting Christ in our lives. It is powerful and is able to transform lives by convicting others of their ways to turn to Christ. It is not always in the sermons we preach that draw others to Christ, it is also in our obedience to this command of holiness. People see Christ in us when we obey this command and are drawn unto Him. Our Lord Jesus Christ lived a holy life on earth, multitudes followed Him because they admired His lifestyle and wanted to be like Him. The testimonies of His disciples, Zaccheus, Nicodemus, Mary Magdalene confirms this truth. Even later we find the early followers in Antioch being called Christians because they were living their lives like Christ did which attracted many to become believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.

It is my prayer that your heart has been stirred to pursue holiness. The power of holiness allows us to experience God, overcome temptations, become a blessing in others lives and also draw many to the saving grace of Christ. This is a fun and exciting life, you experience God is super amazing ways in ways you could have never imagined. Stay blessed and pursue holiness. God dearly loves you for He gave His to save yours on Calvary.

  1. I have been pursuing holiness since 2021 even though I have been saved, HOLY GHOST filled, since 1983. GOD spoke to me in 2021 and said HOLY and my life has not been the same since that time. I am enjoying this journey in JESUS name.
Blessings and thanks for this article.
